BIOGRAPHY

Ozak is an award-winning chartered engineer with academic research experience in wind energy, embedded technology and advanced signal processing; and six years’ experience working in building services engineering consulting and in strategic R&D in cyber-physical systems.

Inspired by her experience of power cuts growing up in Nigeria, Ozak arrived in the UK in 2008 to study electronic and electrical engineering at Loughborough University. She graduated with a first-class degree and won a PhD studentship at the university. Her PhD demonstrated the opportunities for instrumenting low-cost sensors and consumer electronics for vibration-based condition monitoring of wind turbine blades.

In 2014, Ozak joined the UK construction industry, working in diverse teams and contributed to thirty high-value national and international projects. At BRE, a world-leading building science centre, she leads a team driving innovation to advance cyber-physical systems and to address the challenges encountered in its implementation within the industry.
